- 200 grams stick margarine or butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 125 grams chopped almonds
Method:
- Beat the butter, sugar and syrup until light and fluffy. Gradually add the dry ingredients and nuts, mixing well.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth. Divide in half and form into thick logs. Flatten into a rectangular shape, if desired.
- Wrap each log in plastic. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
- Cut into thin slices wit a sharp knife. Place on greased baking sheets.
- Bake on the center oven rack for around 12 minutes.
